Tayla’s Idea — A Gift for the Family Bach
When Tayla came across Tides Out Maps on Facebook, she instantly thought of her parents’ beloved bach in the Marlborough Sounds.
“I saw these maps advertised on a Facebook page and thought it would make a fabulous present for my parents’ bach — and I was right.”
She wanted something thoughtful, coastal, and beautifully crafted. But what made this gift even more special was the collaborative design process that followed.
Personalising the Map — One Detail at a Time
From the very start, Tayla had a few sweet ideas for making the map truly personal. When we asked if she wanted to include any custom engraving, she replied:
“Yes — if we could please etch ‘Marlborough Sounds’ on the top of the border, that would be great.”
She didn’t stop there. Tayla had one more custom request that made the final piece deeply personal:
“And that would be really cute if we could get a little house etched in too! I’ve attached a screenshot of exactly where.”
We loved working with her to bring those ideas to life. These bespoke additions are the kinds of small details that make a map feel more like a memory — like home.
Crafted with Care — and Shared Every Step of the Way
As always, we kept Tayla in the loop as her map was cut, built, and finished. We sent photos of it mid-construction and shared tracking once it shipped out just in time for the holidays.
“Thanks for keeping me updated. Looks great!”
Once it arrived, Tayla followed up again — thrilled with how it turned out and how much joy it brought her family.
“It’s been up for over a year now and any visitors that see it always compliment it.”
