Every layer is laser cut from European birch plywood, hand-painted and put together by hand in our Mount Wellington workshop.
We're a small team, and we make every map ourselves. Made to order in 2 weeks.
Meet the makers
Hi, we're Matt and Kate.
Tides Out Maps started in 2021 as a passion project, turning the coastlines we love to surf, freedive and kayak into layered wooden maps. Matt shapes real depth data into every design, and each piece is made by hand in our Auckland workshop. If the tide went all the way out, this is what you'd see.

Three panels, each laser cut and put together by hand, lined up so the coast runs on from one frame to the next.
