By area, the Kaipara Harbour is one of the largest in the world. At high tide, it covers almost 1000 square km's. During low tide, the mudflats are exposed. The light blue layer of this map is largely walkable at low tide.

Kaipara is named after the eating quality (kai) of the king fern (para).

We design and build all our maps right here in New Zealand. To make geography accurate, each layer is laser cut. We then paint and assemble them by hand. Find out more about our maps, bespoke additions, and how they're made.

Size: 90 x 120 cm, Plywood: European Birch 3-ply

Layers: Sea level, -2m, -5m, -10m, -20m, -30m, -50m.

If you'd like to add any personal touches to your map, please add a note to your order and we'll be in touch.
